Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel was a prolific German artist and Franciscan nun.  Hummel's figurines were inspired by her drawings of rosy-cheeked innocent children.  The first ceramic figurines were produced by Franz Goebel in 1935, breathing life into M.I. Hummel's drawings
