Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel was a prolific German artist and Franciscan nun.  Hummel's figurines were inspired by her drawings of rosy-cheeked innocent children.  The first ceramic figurines were produced by Franz Goebel in 1935, breathing life into M.I. Hummel's drawings.
 
"Prayer Before Battle" is 4.5 inches high and depicts a boy praying for protection before heading off to battle with his trust steed.  It is in perfect condition.
